Named after Peter Hedley
Hedley’s is run by Ben Rae, who spent seven years in the Army before opening a coffee shop of his own. It is named after his late grandad, Peter Hedley, a coffee lover and the reason Ben took the leap.
The doors opened on The Avenue on Saturday 22 August 2026. The idea is simple: good coffee, friendly faces and somewhere to stop on the school run, catch up with friends or grab lunch. Dogs are more than welcome.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We drove all the way from Newcastle to Middlesbrough for the launch of this coffee shop and it was definitely worth the journey! ☕🤎 I had the iced oat vanilla latte and honestly, it was the BEST latte I’ve ever had! 😍 So creamy, delicious and absolutely perfect. I’ll definitely be making the trip back! ✨

Best coffee highly recommend perfect place for a catch up with the girls or quick coffee before or after the school run! Or even while waiting for parents evening or inbetween stay and play sessions (I just know my kids will be wanting to go in too! 🤣)
We popped in to have a drink and cake today and had a fantastic experience. It was busy but we were still able to find a table easily, service was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. We had a flat white, peach iced tea, Bakewell slice and a toffee fudge slice and it was all lush! Looking forward to popping back soon! 😊
Visited Hedley’s coffee shop this afternoon(opening day), there was a great atmosphere there, the service was fantastic from all of the staff and I can highly recommend the strawberry matcha, strawberry lemonade and toffee cake. Good luck for the future.
We visited Hedley’s Coffee co this afternoon. We had a lovely time everyone’s so smiley and friendly. I can highly recommend the chocolate cake the iced vanilla lattes and strawberry lemonade was delicious. My baby Luca approved of the strawberry lemonade and the school cake. 10/10 from us all👏
