Our story

Named after Grandad

Hedley’s is the coffee shop Ben Rae always wanted to open, and it carries the name of the man who inspired it.

The name

Who was Hedley?

Peter Hedley was Ben’s grandad. He loved his coffee, and he was the reason Ben decided to go it alone and open a place of his own. Putting the shop in his name means a great deal to the whole family.

The owner

From the Army to The Avenue

Before Hedley’s, Ben spent seven years in the Army. The unit at The Avenue shops was renovated over the summer, with locals following every step on social media, and the doors opened at 11am on Saturday 22 August 2026 with tasters and a chance to win free coffee.
